DC Orders Removal of Unauthorized Masjid Structure at Hapoli within 7 days

Ziro, Jan 29:

The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District, has ordered the removal of unauthorized structures of a Masjid constructed at Pare Ami, Hapoli, citing violation of prescribed rules and lack of prior permission from the competent authority.

According to the official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner on January 29, 2026, the structure was raised without valid approval. The matter came to light following a complaint lodged by the Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan Committee, Lower Subansiri District Unit. Subsequent inquiry and site inspection conducted by the Town Magistrate confirmed that the construction was illegal.

The order further states that the land on which the Masjid was built had been donated by former minister Padi Richo. However, the Madina Masjid Committee of Hapoli has already returned the said land to the donor on January 21, 2026.

In view of these developments, the Deputy Commissioner has directed the landowner to remove the unauthorized portions of the structure, specifically the domes and minarets, at his own cost within seven days with effect from January 30, 2026. The remaining building may be used for purposes other than religious activities.

Order copy issued by district administration

The order also makes it clear that the vacated building shall not be used for the same religious activities in the near future. Failure to comply within the stipulated time will compel the district administration to carry out demolition and eviction of the structure without further notice.

The order was issued under the authority of the Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri District, Ziro.

EMT Yalik Kamchi with baby

A healthy baby boy was safely delivered inside a 108 emergency ambulance on Thursday night while the vehicle was en route from District Hospital (DH) Seppa to the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Itanagar, officials said.

According to sources, the pregnant woman had been referred from DH Seppa at around 8:00 pm due to non-progression of labour. However, while the ambulance was in transit, she developed intense labour pains at approximately 11:00 pm, making delivery imminent before reaching the referral hospital.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Yalik Kamchi, with assistance from ambulance pilot Ashok Bagang, handled the emergency situation inside the moving vehicle. The EMT successfully conducted the delivery and provided immediate postnatal care to both the newborn and the mother.

Medical procedures carried out included assessment of the newborn’s Apgar score and stabilisation measures for both mother and child following childbirth. Both were reported to be safe after the delivery.

Notably, this is not the first such achievement for EMT Yalik Kamchi. In September 2024, the EMT had also successfully delivered a baby girl inside a 108 ambulance while en route to TRIHMS, Naharlagun.

The incident highlights the dedication, professionalism, and life-saving commitment of emergency medical technicians, whose timely skills and calm response in critical situations continue to save precious lives even in the most challenging circumstances.
