Awareness Programme on POCSO and Cyber Security Held at Sec. School Pakam

30 January 2026:

An awareness programme on Child and Women Safety under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Cyber Security was successfully conducted at Secondary School Pakam under the banner of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.

The programme was organized with the objective of educating students about their rights, personal safety, cyber threats, and the legal safeguards available for the protection of women and children. The initiative aimed to create awareness among young students about the importance of staying vigilant and informed in today’s digital age.

Addressing the gathering, L/Insp J. Pari, Officer-in-Charge of Women Police Station (WPS), Aalo, along with L/Insp M. Tayeng and SI N. Kojing, delivered informative sessions on various aspects of child protection laws, women’s safety, and responsible use of digital platforms. The officers explained the provisions of the POCSO Act, highlighted common cybercrime threats targeting children and youth, and shared practical safety measures to help students protect themselves both online and offline.

The speakers also emphasized the importance of reporting incidents of abuse, harassment, cyberbullying, and other forms of exploitation. Students were encouraged to seek assistance from parents, teachers, and law enforcement authorities whenever they encounter unsafe situations.

An interactive session was held at the conclusion of the programme, during which students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views. The officers responded to their queries and provided guidance on handling various safety-related issues. To encourage participation, pens and pencils were distributed among the students as rewards.

The organizers appreciated the Head Teacher and the staff of Secondary School Pakam for their wholehearted cooperation and active involvement, which contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the programme.

The awareness initiative reflects the continued commitment of the police and allied stakeholders towards promoting child protection, women’s empowerment, and cyber safety awareness among the younger generation.
