Seeking greater administrative balance and regional equity, the All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Council (AAPYC) on Monday approached the Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh at Raj Bhavan with a proposal to create two posts of Deputy Chief Minister—one each for the Eastern and Western zones of the state.
According to the youth body, Arunachal Pradesh’s vast terrain and uneven developmental challenges call for a decentralized leadership model. The Council argued that zonal Deputy Chief Ministers would help bridge administrative gaps, particularly in far-flung and border districts, while ensuring that both regions receive equal attention in policy execution.
AAPYC maintained that the proposed structure would not only accelerate decision-making but also strengthen coordination between the state government and local institutions. The organization stressed that region-specific leadership is crucial to addressing diverse socio-economic issues more effectively.
The delegation expressed confidence that the Governor would place the proposal before the appropriate constitutional and executive authorities for further consideration. Reiterating its stance, the Council said it would continue to advocate for reforms through democratic and constructive engagement.
The memorandum submission underscores the growing involvement of youth-led organizations in influencing governance-related discussions and pushing for administrative reforms aimed at inclusive development across Arunachal Pradesh.
