Delhi CM Meets Arunachal Victims, Assures Action

New Delhi, February 25, 2026:

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday met the three young women from Arunachal Pradesh who were targeted in a recent racial abuse incident in South Delhi, assuring them of full support and strict action against those responsible.

In a social media post, Gupta described the students as “resilient, courageous, and full of promise,” stressing that Delhi stands for diversity, respect, and dignity. She said hatred, discrimination, and intimidation would not be tolerated and urged people not to politicize the sensitive issue while respecting the victims’ privacy.

The incident occurred on February 20, when the women were allegedly abused and intimidated by neighbours following a dispute over repair work at their rented flat. A video of the confrontation circulated widely online, triggering public outrage and renewed attention to discrimination faced by people from the Northeast.

Delhi Police have arrested Ruby Jain and her husband Harsh Singh. Officials said the investigation is being handled by an ACP-rank officer, and provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been added to the FIR registered at Malviya Nagar Police Station.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the newly built Seva Teerth integrated complex, marking the relocation of the Prime Minister’s Office from South Block for the first time since Independence.

Addressing officials during the event, the Prime Minister said the move reflects India’s vision of building a “Viksit Bharat” and aims to improve coordination and administrative efficiency. He noted that North Block and South Block were constructed during the British era and symbolised the governance priorities of that time.
