Harsh Singh Arrested After Wife Ruby Jain in Malviya Nagar Racial Abuse Case

New Delhi, February 25, 2026:

Delhi Police have arrested Harsh Singh in connection with the alleged racial abuse of three women from Arunachal Pradesh in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The development comes after his wife, Ruby Jain, was taken into custody earlier as part of the same investigation into an FIR registered at Malviya Nagar Police Station

Police said the case escalated after provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act were invoked based on available evidence, leading to the probe being transferred to an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-rank officer under senior supervision.

The incident reportedly took place on February 20 when a dispute over dust from electrical installation work at a rented apartment turned into a heated confrontation between neighbours. The complainants alleged that Singh used racially derogatory language and threats targeting their Northeastern identity, causing mental harassment though no physical injuries were reported.

Following public backlash and viral circulation of videos related to the incident, Harsh Singh issued a public apology, stating that he and his family were “ashamed” and would cooperate with the legal process.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that strict legal action is being pursued and said authorities remain in close contact with both the victims and Delhi Police as the investigation progresses.

Police officials said further legal proceedings will depend on ongoing examination of digital evidence, witness statements and forensic analysis of viral video clips linked to the case.

Ruby Jain Arrested in Malviya Nagar Racial Abuse Case; Probe Handed to ACP After SC/ST Act Invocation

New Delhi, February 25, 2026:

Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested Ruby Jain in connection with a case involving alleged racial abuse and insulting language against three women from Northeast India in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, officials said. The arrest followed an investigation into an FIR registered at the Malviya Nagar Police Station.

According to a police statement, the case intensified after relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act were invoked. With the addition of these sections, the investigation has been entrusted to an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-rank officer and is being closely supervised by senior officials to ensure a comprehensive probe.

Police sources said the alleged incident involved verbal abuse and the use of derogatory remarks directed at the victims, who are neighbours of the accused in the same locality. Authorities had earlier named a male individual in the FIR, and his role is currently under examination as investigators review available evidence and statements.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the development while speaking to the media, stating that strict action would be taken and that he is personally monitoring the case. He also referred to past incidents of racial discrimination against people from Northeast India, highlighting the need for firm legal action and continued institutional support.

Officials added that further legal steps will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation, with more details expected as the probe progresses.
