Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu today inaugurated the two-day “Arunachal Pradesh Jaiv Vividhata & Mvm Liid Soonam/Beej Utsav 2026” along with a Stakeholder Consultation on Biohappiness and Climate Resilience at Yazali in Keyi Panyor district.
The event is being jointly organised by the Office of the 16th Yachuli MLA, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Keyi Panyor, Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), and the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Chennai.
The programme aims to promote agrobiodiversity conservation, strengthen indigenous seed systems, enhance climate resilience, support sustainable livelihoods, and preserve traditional ecological knowledge of the indigenous communities of Arunachal Pradesh.
The inaugural session witnessed the presence of Yachuli MLA Toko Tatung, MSSRF Chairperson Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Padma Bhushan awardee Rajeev Sethi, along with scientists, researchers, agricultural experts, self-help groups, and farmers from different parts of the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu highlighted the importance of protecting traditional farming practices and indigenous seed varieties in the face of climate change and rapid modernization. He stressed the need for collaborative efforts between local communities, researchers, and policymakers to ensure sustainable agricultural development and ecological balance in the region.
The two-day event will feature exhibitions of indigenous seeds and traditional crops, stakeholder consultations, interactive discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions focusing on biodiversity conservation, food security, and climate-resilient agricultural practices.
