MLA Nabam Vivek Inaugurates Honey Testing Lab at RGU

Doimukh, May 8:

In a major step towards strengthening the beekeeping and honey production sector in Arunachal Pradesh, a state-of-the-art Honey Testing Laboratory was inaugurated at Rajiv Gandhi University by Nabam Vivek at Doimukh on Friday.

The initiative forms part of a comprehensive project funded by the National Bee Board and implemented by NECTAR in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University.

The newly inaugurated laboratory is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring quality testing, certification, and standardization of honey produced in the state, thereby enhancing market value and boosting opportunities for local beekeepers and entrepreneurs. The facility is also aimed at promoting scientific beekeeping practices and supporting sustainable livelihood generation in rural areas.

The event further witnessed the Bhumi Pujan ceremony for the upcoming Honey Processing Unit, which is envisioned as a key component of an integrated honey processing and value-addition ecosystem in the region. Once operational, the unit is expected to facilitate better processing, packaging, branding, and marketing of locally produced honey and allied products.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Nabam Vivek highlighted the importance of modern infrastructure and technology-driven initiatives in promoting self-reliance and economic growth among farmers and beekeepers in Arunachal Pradesh. He expressed confidence that the project would significantly benefit the agricultural and apiculture sectors while creating new livelihood opportunities for the youth.

Officials from NECTAR, Rajiv Gandhi University, and other stakeholders were also present during the inauguration and Bhumi Pujan ceremony.
