Roing, May 3:
In a late-night operation, the Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) Police busted an alleged sex racket at a resort in Roing, rescuing four women and detaining several individuals involved.
Acting on credible inputs regarding pimping and prostitution activities, a team from Roing Police Station, led by the Officer-in-Charge, conducted a surprise raid at Lego Resort in the Meka area.
During the operation, four female sex workers, reportedly brought from Assam’s Tinsukia region, were rescued and taken to Roing Police Station.
The resort manager and several customers present at the location were taken into custody, while the resort owner has been detained for further questioning. Police stated that the individuals were caught allegedly engaging in prostitution-related activities during the raid.
According to sources, authorities had been receiving inputs and public complaints over the past few days regarding suspected illegal activities at the resort. Officials also expressed concern over the potential impact on local youth and associated public health risks.
A case has been registered at Roing Police Station vide C/No. 18/2026 under Sections 143(2), 144(2), 271, 61, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Sections 3(2)(a), 3(2)(b), 4, 5(i)(a), and 5(i)(f) of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA). Further investigation is underway.
