Changlang, May 9:
In a major breakthrough, the Changlang District Police successfully arrested an absconding murder accused from Kerala in connection with a murder case registered at Namtok Police Station earlier this year.
According to police sources, a case vide Namtok PS Case No. 02/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered on February 22, 2026, following the murder of one Raju Bhuyan at Tuhi Veneer Mill, located at 9th Mile under Namtok Police Station in Changlang district.
After allegedly committing the crime, the accused fled the state to evade arrest. However, the Changlang District Police continued an intensive investigation using both human intelligence and technical surveillance to track down the absconding accused.
Acting on credible inputs, the police traced the accused to Kozhikode in Kerala. A special police team led by SI Krishan Kumar, Officer-in-Charge of Namtok Police Station, was constituted under the close supervision of Shri Kirli Padu, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Changlang.
With active assistance from the Crime and Criminal Tracking Unit (CMCU), PHQ Itanagar, and the Kerala Police, the team successfully apprehended the accused, identified as Aditya Rai alias Maina, on May 7, 2026.
Following the arrest, the accused was brought back to Changlang district under transit remand for further legal proceedings and investigation.
The successful interstate operation highlights the coordinated efforts of Arunachal Pradesh Police and Kerala Police in ensuring that the accused was brought to justice despite attempting to escape across state boundaries.
