AAPSU to Build ‘Statue of Honesty’ for APPSC Whistleblower Gyamar Padang at Itanagar

Itanagar, May 5:

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has announced the construction of a “Statue of Honesty” in memory of Lt. Gyamar Padang, the whistleblower associated with exposing the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak scam.

The announcement was made earlier today by AAPSU President Meje Taku while attending the Arunachal Panorama at Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Rono Hills.

Describing the initiative as a tribute to courage and truth, AAPSU stated that the statue will be established at 6 Kilo, Itanagar, where land has been officially reserved for the project. A signboard installed at the site confirms the reservation and outlines the purpose of the memorial.

Calling it “a symbol of courage rising where truth once fought alone,” the union said the statue will honour Gyamar Padang’s role as a brave whistleblower and his commitment to integrity. The initiative is being undertaken by Team AAPSU with the aim of inspiring future generations to uphold honesty and stand against corruption.

Speaking on the project, Meje Taku said that AAPSU will approach the government for funding support. However, he asserted that even if the government declines, the union will proceed with the construction using AAPSU’s own funds.

The site dedication took place shortly after the announcement, marking the foundation for the proposed monument. Further details regarding the design, funding, and construction timeline are expected to be shared by AAPSU in the coming days.
