In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, East Kameng Police seized a large quantity of suspected heroin during a special naka checking operation conducted along National Highway-13 near the Pampoli/Thursday Market area in Seppa.

Acting on credible source information regarding the transportation of suspected narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances from Assam to Seppa, a team from Seppa Police Station launched a targeted operation and intercepted the movement of the contraband. During the checking, police recovered and seized 108 vials containing suspected heroin weighing approximately 125.8 grams, including the weight of the vials.

In addition to the suspected heroin, the police also recovered a used insulin syringe, small quantities of suspected cannabis and cannabis seeds, cash amounting to ₹10,010, and other incriminating articles believed to be connected with the illegal drug trade.

Two individuals were apprehended during the operation and have been taken into custody for further investigation. According to available police records, this seizure is the largest heroin haul ever made within the jurisdiction of East Kameng District.

The entire seizure process was carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and was videographed through the e-Sakshya platform to ensure transparency and adherence to legal procedures. All seized materials were properly sealed, marked, and deposited in the police malkhana after completion of the prescribed formalities.

The department has also appealed to the public to actively cooperate by sharing credible information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse, helping law enforcement agencies safeguard communities from the growing menace of narcotics.

Youth Congress Urges Action Against RSS in Arunachal

Itanagar, June 20:

Indian Youth Congress (IYC) National General Secretary and Convener of the North East Youth Congress Coordination Committee, Tarh Johny, has submitted a memorandum to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu seeking an immediate review and ban on activities allegedly carried out by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliated organizations in the state. In the letter, Johny expressed concern that such activities are contributing to social division and disturbing the long-standing harmony among the indigenous tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh.

The memorandum states that Arunachal Pradesh has historically been known for its rich indigenous traditions, cultural diversity, and peaceful coexistence among different tribes and faiths. However, Johny alleged that recent developments and public programmes have increasingly introduced religious narratives into tribal socio-cultural spaces, leading to unnecessary polarization among indigenous communities. He further claimed that attempts are being made to associate tribal identities with a particular religious identity, which could dilute the distinct customs, traditions, beliefs, and cultural heritage of the indigenous people of the state.

Highlighting the need to preserve Arunachal Pradesh's unique tribal character, Johny stated that such narratives could create divisions among tribes, generate social unrest, and weaken the secular fabric that has long characterized the state. He also expressed apprehension that indigenous people may be drawn into religious and ideological campaigns that serve political objectives rather than the genuine welfare and preservation of tribal culture. According to the memorandum, any effort that pits one tribal group against another or creates distinctions among indigenous communities on religious grounds poses a serious threat to communal harmony and stability.

In view of these concerns, the Youth Congress leader urged the state government to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into activities that may be promoting social or religious polarization among indigenous communities. He also called for a review of organizations whose activities are found to be creating disharmony, social unrest, or division among tribal groups. The memorandum further requested the government to take appropriate legal and administrative measures, including restrictions or bans on organizations found engaging in provocative activities.

Johny additionally appealed to the government to strengthen policies and programmes aimed at protecting and preserving the indigenous identity, traditions, and cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. He stressed that no organization or individual should be allowed to exploit tribal identities for political or sectarian purposes. Expressing confidence in the state government's commitment to safeguarding peace, unity, secularism, and indigenous heritage, Johny sought prompt consideration of the representation.

Copies of the memorandum were also forwarded to the Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister, the Director General of Police (DGP), and all Deputy Commissioners of the state for information and necessary action. As of the filing of this report, no official response has been issued by either the Arunachal Pradesh Government or the RSS regarding the allegations and demands raised in the memorandum.

Arunachal Cabinet Extends Age Relaxation for APPSC Aspirants

Itanagar, June 16:

In a major relief for aspirants affected by delays in recruitment examinations, the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet on Monday approved a one-year extension of the one-time upper age relaxation for eligible candidates of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC). The decision was taken to ensure that candidates who became overage due to delays in the examination process are not deprived of employment opportunities.

According to the Cabinet decision, the benefit will be available to candidates who had applied for APPSC recruitment examinations advertised in 2022 and subsequently crossed the prescribed upper age limit because of postponements and delays in the conduct of examinations. The extension is intended to address concerns raised by affected aspirants and provide them with a fair chance to compete in upcoming recruitment processes.

The APPSC recruitment delays had impacted a large number of candidates, many of whom risked losing eligibility despite having applied within the prescribed age limits when the vacancies were originally notified. The state government had earlier granted a one-time age relaxation as a special measure, and the latest decision extends that relief by another year.

The Cabinet stated that the move reflects the government's commitment to safeguarding the interests of deserving candidates and ensuring fairness in public recruitment.

The extension is expected to benefit a significant number of aspirants awaiting APPSC examinations and recruitment notifications, offering them renewed hope and an additional opportunity to pursue government service.

The twin recognitions received by Nawang Chotta Homestay and Siang River Rafting reflect the successful efforts of Arunachal Pradesh in promoting both cultural and adventure tourism. While Nawang Chotta Homestay showcases the state's rich tribal heritage and authentic hospitality, Siang River Rafting highlights its immense natural potential for world-class adventure experiences.

These achievements stand as a testament to the dedication of local communities, tourism stakeholders, and government agencies working together to position Arunachal Pradesh as one of India's most distinctive and promising tourism destinations.

New Butterfly Species Discovered in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, June 15:

In a significant breakthrough for biodiversity research, scientists have discovered a new butterfly species in the remote Mayodia Pass region of Arunachal Pradesh's Lower Dibang Valley. The species, named Chonala albistricta, has been formally described in the international scientific journal Zootaxa.

The discovery adds a new member to the rare mountain butterfly genus Chonala, bringing the total number of known species worldwide to ten. Notably, Chonala albistricta is only the second species from this genus ever recorded in India.

Although the butterfly closely resembles Chonala masoni, researchers confirmed it as a distinct species after detailed examinations of its wing patterns, external morphology and anatomical features. The findings underscore the importance of meticulous scientific studies in uncovering hidden biodiversity.

The research was led by noted butterfly expert Krushnamegh Kunte of the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), alongside researchers Fahim Khan and Ujwala Pawar. According to the team, the isolated and rugged landscapes of the Eastern Himalayas continue to offer immense potential for discovering species that remain unknown to science.

Species belonging to the genus Chonala are typically found in high-altitude Himalayan ecosystems and are known for their rarity. Scientists believe that their geographically isolated populations have evolved independently over long periods, resulting in unique biological characteristics.

The discovery of Chonala albistricta further highlights the extraordinary biodiversity of Arunachal Pradesh and reinforces the global ecological significance of the Eastern Himalayas. Researchers emphasize that documenting such species is vital for conservation efforts and for improving our understanding of the region's rich natural heritage.

The finding serves as a reminder that even today, some of the world's most remote mountain landscapes continue to reveal remarkable secrets of nature.

APSSB Exam Rekindles Debate Over Arunachal's 80:20 Recruitment Policy

Representative visual

Itanagar, June 15:

The Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board's (APSSB) Special Recruitment Drive for Uniformed Services Combined Examination 2026, conducted on June 14, has once again brought the state's long-debated 80:20 recruitment ratio into public focus. As thousands of aspirants converged on examination centres across the state, particularly in Itanagar, the presence of a large number of non-Arunachali candidates appearing for vacancies reserved under the 20 percent quota reignited discussions on whether the decades-old policy remains relevant in present-day Arunachal Pradesh. The issue has gained particular significance at a time when unemployment remains one of the most pressing challenges facing the state's younger generation.

The 80:20 recruitment ratio was introduced during a period when Arunachal Pradesh faced a shortage of qualified local manpower in several sectors. To ensure the smooth functioning of government departments and essential services, a portion of government posts was kept open for candidates from outside the state. At the time, the policy was viewed as a practical measure to address limitations in educational access and professional expertise within the state.

However, the socio-economic landscape of Arunachal Pradesh has changed significantly over the years, with the state now producing thousands of graduates, postgraduates, and professionally qualified youths annually from universities and institutions across India.

Arunachali candidates have consistently demonstrated their competence in fields such as administration, education, healthcare, engineering, law enforcement, civil services, and other professional sectors. Against this backdrop, many youths and employment seekers have begun questioning whether the continued reservation of 20 percent of state government vacancies for non-APST candidates still serves its original purpose. Government jobs continue to be among the most sought-after avenues of employment in Arunachal Pradesh due to limited opportunities in the private sector, making every recruitment drive highly significant for local job seekers.

Many observers argue that local candidates today possess the educational qualifications, technical expertise, and professional capabilities required to fill positions across virtually all departments of the state government. They contend that recruitment policies should evolve in accordance with changing realities and prioritize the employment aspirations of the state's own educated and unemployed youth.

Supporters of a review of the policy maintain that the debate is not about excluding non-local candidates but about reassessing a framework that was formulated under circumstances vastly different from those that exist today.

The APSSB examination has therefore revived a broader conversation about employment, representation, and the future of public recruitment in the state. Many believe that the time has come for a comprehensive assessment of the 80:20 ratio to determine whether it continues to meet the objectives for which it was originally introduced or whether a revised recruitment framework would better reflect the aspirations and employment needs of contemporary Arunachal Pradesh.

As discussions continue, the issue is expected to remain a subject of public and political debate, particularly among the state's youth, for whom access to government employment remains a critical concern.

Galo Christians and the Preservation of Language, Culture, and Tradition

Itanagar, June 15

The Galo community is one of the prominent tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Traditionally, the Galos have their own ancestral belief system, but over the years many have embraced Christianity. Today, several Galo villages such as Siji, Magi, Kane, Siji-Soi, Siji-Lago, Bali, Germe, Gengi, Tiri, Nansi, Lete, Tai, Kardo, Ratak-Gamlin, Pale, Liche-Ete, Yegri, Pira, Telam, Silli, Tojo, New Deka, and Badak have hundred percent Christian populations.

Despite belonging to different Christian denominations, Galo believers remain united under the umbrella of the Galo Christian Federation. While accepting Christianity, they have also played an important role in preserving their indigenous language, culture, and traditions. This article highlights how Galo Christians continue to value and safeguard their rich heritage.

Preservation of Language

The Galo language belongs to the Sino-Tibetan linguistic family and is closely related to the languages of other Tani tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and also Tibet. According to traditional belief, Abo-Tani was the first human ancestor of the Tani tribes, more or less similar in significance to Adam in Biblical understanding. The descendants of Abo-Tani are collectively known as the Tani tribes and are mainly settled in the central region of the state.

Galo Christians have contributed significantly to the preservation of their mother tongue through religious and literary activities. The Bible has been translated into the Galo language, and Christian songs, hymns, and devotional literature are widely composed and sung in Galo dialects. Protestant believers commonly use translations published by the Bible Society of India, while Catholics use separate translations prepared for their denomination.

One notable contribution is the Galo-English dictionary prepared by Duri Taipodia, a Catholic Bible translator. Galo Christians have also compiled devotional songbooks such as Galo Khristian Nyitom, which remains one of the largest collections of Christian songs in the Galo language. Efforts are also underway to develop a Galo hymnal and preserve these songs digitally through platforms such as YouTube under the title Galo Hymnal.

Church services, prayers, and religious gatherings are often conducted in the Galo language. Whenever guest speakers from outside the Galo community visit, their messages are interpreted into Galo for the congregation. Even in urban areas such as the Itanagar Capital Region and district headquarters where Galos reside outside their native villages, Galo Christians have established worship fellowships that conduct services in their mother tongue. Through these efforts, the language continues to thrive within spiritual and social life.

Preservation of Culture

Although many Galos have embraced Christianity, they continue to maintain cultural practices that are harmonious with Biblical teachings. Traditional marriage customs, for example, are still widely practiced. The use of Jera, a traditional cloth woven from Tapum (silk worm) continues as a symbol of Ome Tagak (engagement). During marriage ceremonies, representatives from almost every family in the village accompany the groom’s party to the bride’s village, reflecting the community-centered nature of Galo society.

Certain traditional practices, however, have been adapted to suit Christian values. The use of liquor such as Opo or Poka (rice beer), as well as the role of the Nibu (traditional priest), is often replaced with tea, fruit juice, soft drinks, and the participation of church leaders. Yet, symbolic and cultural elements of the traditional marriage system remain intact.

The Hob (Mithun), which holds deep cultural significance among the Galos, continues to play an important role in ceremonies and celebrations. Traditional mediators known as Lampo are still appointed from both the bride’s and groom’s sides to facilitate matrimonial alliances. Traditional ornaments and customary items such as Tadok (bead necklace) are also used during marriage ceremonies.

Even during social gatherings, oral historians and elders continue to narrate stories of their ancestors and clan histories. For instance, the Taipodia clan recalls that their forefathers, Yomgo, Yomdak, Ngode, Nyiba, Madu, and Marngo, were once renowned for hunting wild elephants with swords. Such oral traditions continue to preserve historical memory and identity within the community.

Preservation of Tradition

For many Galo Christians, preserving traditional identity is considered an important responsibility. Even after generations of Christianity, they continue to integrate traditional attire and customs into their daily and spiritual lives.

During Sunday worship and important Christian functions, many believers wear traditional Galo attire such as the Galuk (coat) and Gale. In major church gatherings and community events, traditional items such as Gale, Tango, Rache (cane bag used by men), Bolup (traditional cane hat), Egin (bamboo or cane basket used by women), and Orok (sword) are often presented to guests and dignitaries as symbols of cultural pride and respect.

Likewise, when representing their community in national or international events, Galo Christians frequently wear traditional dress to showcase their identity and heritage. Through these practices, they continue to safeguard and promote their ancestral traditions.

Conclusion

The experience of Galo Christians demonstrates that Christianity and indigenous identity can coexist harmoniously. While their primary aim may not have been cultural preservation, the process of contextualizing Christianity within Galo society has naturally contributed to the protection of their language, customs, and traditions.

Efforts are also being made to document oral histories in written form and preserve them for future generations. In the modern age of rapid technological and social change, the Galo community continues to face new challenges. Nevertheless, Galo Christians are actively working to preserve their heritage while remaining rooted in their faith.

There is also a growing vision for establishing a Galo Theological Fellowship that could encourage theological discussion and help bridge divisions within the community. Such initiatives may further strengthen unity and ensure that future generations inherit both the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Galo people.

PPA Opposes APFRA Implementation, Seeks Wider Consultation

Itanagar, June 13:

The People's Party of Arunachal (PPA) has expressed its opposition to the proposed implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act (APFRA), 1978, stating that the move could have implications for communal harmony and social cohesion in the state.

The party's position was adopted during its State Executive Meeting held on June 11, 2026, where members deliberated on the APFRA and the draft rules prepared for its implementation. Following discussions, the executive unanimously resolved to oppose the implementation of the Act and urged the government to reconsider the move in the interest of maintaining unity among the state's diverse communities.

Addressing the media, PPA President Shri Nabam Vivek questioned the relevance of implementing a law enacted nearly five decades ago. He noted that APFRA was passed in 1978 and said that any decision on such a sensitive matter should be preceded by extensive consultations with all stakeholders, including community leaders, religious organizations, civil society groups, and the general public.

Referring to the final draft rules submitted by the High-Powered Committee to Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu, Vivek raised concerns over provisions relating to the maintenance of records of religious conversions. He questioned the necessity of documenting individuals who adopt or convert to a particular faith, arguing that such measures would neither protect indigenous tribal identities nor effectively prevent religious conversions.

According to Vivek, the implementation of these provisions could potentially create social divisions and affect the longstanding tradition of peaceful coexistence among different communities in Arunachal Pradesh. He emphasized that the state's strength lies in its cultural diversity and mutual respect among its people.

Reiterating the party's commitment to safeguarding the interests of indigenous communities, the PPA President stated that the party would continue to oppose any policy it believes does not reflect public sentiment or serve the welfare of the people. He urged the state government to initiate broader public discussions on the issue before taking any final decision.

Vivek also called on the government to convene a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly to deliberate on the matter in detail and seek a consensus that reflects the aspirations and concerns of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.

According to Shri Mize's legal team, the court on June 12 made the previously granted ad interim bail absolute, allowing him to remain on bail while the case proceeds. The trial, however, will continue in accordance with the directions of the court.

Members of the Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Drugs Warriors welcomed the court's decision and expressed confidence in the judicial process. They stated that they remain hopeful that the matter will be resolved fairly and transparently through due legal proceedings.

Reacting to the court's order, Shri Gumin Mize said that he has faith in the judicial process and believes that the truth will ultimately prevail. He further stated that the fight against the drug menace in the state would continue without interruption.

The Arunachal Pradesh Anti-Drugs Warriors also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening anti-drug awareness, prevention efforts, and community engagement programmes across the state.

Army Defuses 1962-Era Live Mortar Shell in Tawang

Tawang, June 12:

An unexploded live mortar shell believed to be from the 1962 Indo-China War era was successfully defused by the Indian Army after being discovered in the Lebrang area of Tawang Township, averting a potential threat to life and property.

According to official reports, on June 11, 2026, at around 4:00 PM, Officer-in-Charge of Tawang Police Station, SI Lham Thinley, received information regarding the presence of an unexploded live mortar bomb in the Lebrang area. Upon receiving the report, Superintendent of Police (SP) Tawang, Tasi Darang, immediately contacted the Commandant of the 190 Mountain Brigade stationed in Tawang and sought assistance for the safe disposal of the explosive.

Following the alert, Tawang District Police promptly cordoned off the area to ensure public safety. However, due to fading daylight and the high-risk nature of the operation, the disposal process could not be carried out on the same day.

In the early hours of June 12, a coordinated operation was launched in the presence of Brigadier Bhupal Singh, Sena Medal, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade; Colonel N. Vasantharaj; SP Tawang Tasi Darang; and Major Mohammad Akhlas. A specialized Army Bomb Disposal Team carefully assessed the situation and transported the live mortar shell to the Methang area for a controlled disposal operation.

Despite the significant risks involved, the Army team successfully neutralized the explosive through a controlled detonation, ensuring that no loss of life, property, or livestock occurred during the operation.

SP Tasi Darang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the officers and personnel of the 190 Mountain Brigade for their swift response, professionalism, and invaluable assistance in safely disposing of the live ordnance.

Officials noted that unexploded mortar shells and other war remnants from the 1962 Indo-China War are occasionally discovered in several border areas of Arunachal Pradesh. Such explosives remain highly dangerous even after decades and can cause catastrophic damage if accidentally triggered.

SP Tasi Darang has urged members of the public to immediately inform the district police or nearest security authorities if any suspected unexploded ordnance or similar objects are found, and to avoid handling or approaching such items under any circumstances.

Manphung's determination to pursue education despite his disability serves as a powerful example for children and youth not only in Longding district but throughout Arunachal Pradesh. His story highlights the importance of resilience, hope, and the transformative role education can play in overcoming life's challenges.

Equally commendable is the compassionate support extended by the school administration, which reflects the growing emphasis on inclusive education and equal opportunities for all children. Such initiatives help create an environment where students with disabilities can learn, grow, and realize their full potential.

The inspiring journey of Manphung Wangsa stands as a reminder that no physical challenge is too great when determination is met with encouragement, support, and access to education. It also underscores the collective responsibility of communities and institutions to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, is given the opportunity to learn and succeed.

DC Tawang Calls for Collective Action on Waste Management

Tawang, June 12:

Deputy Commissioner of Tawang, Namgyal Angmo, IAS, on Friday convened a meeting with all employees of the Deputy Commissioner's Office, Tawang, to reinforce the urgent need for responsible waste management and environmental stewardship across the district.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner informed that, in accordance with directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court, district administrations have been empowered and directed to ensure the strict implementation of waste management practices within their respective jurisdictions. She emphasized that safeguarding the environment is a collective responsibility and called upon all government employees to take the lead in promoting sustainable habits.

As part of the district's efforts to reduce plastic pollution, the Deputy Commissioner urged all employees to refrain from using single-use plastic carry bags and adopt eco-friendly alternatives. She further informed that there will be a complete ban on bottled drinking water below two litres, a measure aimed at significantly reducing plastic waste generation in the district.

Highlighting the importance of waste segregation and sustainable disposal methods, she directed all government employees to construct compost or dumping pits in their backyards for the disposal of kitchen waste. She also stressed the need for segregation of waste at source, stating that proper segregation not only reduces the burden on sanitation workers but also enhances the operational efficiency of the district's Material Recovery Facility (MRF).

During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Sange Norbu delivered a detailed presentation on waste segregation and responsible waste disposal practices. He drew attention to the alarming condition of the district's landfill dumping site, where the continuous disposal of unsegregated waste has led to serious environmental and safety concerns.

He cautioned that if immediate corrective measures are not adopted, the growing waste crisis could pose significant threats to wildlife, public health, and the safety of sanitation workers who work tirelessly to manage the district's waste. He emphasized that effective waste segregation at the household and institutional levels is critical to reducing the volume of waste reaching the landfill and ensuring a cleaner environment for future generations.

The meeting concluded with a strong appeal to all employees to become ambassadors of cleanliness and environmental conservation by adopting sustainable waste management practices in their daily lives.

Reiterating the importance of individual responsibility, the district administration emphasized that every plastic bag refused, every bottle reused, and every waste item properly segregated contributes towards building a cleaner, greener, and healthier Tawang.

RTI Activist Seeks Probe Into Repeated Bandh Calls

Itanagar, June 11:

A representation has been submitted to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh seeking the constitution of an independent enquiry committee to investigate alleged inaction by the Home Department, district administration, police authorities, and the Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Youth Organisation (APIYO) over repeated bandh calls in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). The memorandum, dated June 9, 2026, was submitted by RTI activist Likha Tolum and received at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar.

According to the representation, the petitioner alleged that APIYO had called multiple capital bandhs within a short span of time, causing inconvenience to the general public and disrupting normal life in the twin capital cities. The memorandum claims that despite district administration orders declaring such bandh calls unlawful and despite repeated warnings from authorities, no FIRs, arrests, or legal action were initiated against those enforcing the shutdowns. The petitioner further alleged that this amounted to unequal treatment under the law and encouraged more pressure groups to resort to bandh culture in the state.

The representation specifically seeks an independent enquiry against four entities: the Home Minister, the district administration, police officials, and APIYO. The petitioner has accused the authorities of failing to enforce administrative orders and of not taking action against organisers of bandh calls despite legal provisions and court rulings against forced shutdowns. The memorandum also alleges that while some social activists and protestors have faced legal action under various laws, organisers of repeated bandh calls were allegedly not subjected to similar action.

Another key demand in the representation is compensation for losses and harassment allegedly suffered by members of the public due to repeated shutdowns. The petitioner has argued that citizens, daily wage earners, businesses, commuters and other sections of society were adversely affected by the bandhs and that responsibility for such losses should be fixed through an independent investigation.

The submission comes in the backdrop of recent APIYO-led bandh calls in the Itanagar Capital Region. Earlier this month, a 24-hour bandh called by APIYO reportedly brought normal life to a standstill in the capital region, affecting transport, businesses and public services. Prior to the shutdown, the district administration had declared the bandh unlawful and warned against its enforcement, stating that the issues raised by the organisation had already been addressed through administrative action.

In the memorandum, the petitioner urged the Governor to constitute an independent enquiry committee to examine whether there had been administrative lapses, selective enforcement of laws, or failure to uphold public interest. The representation also seeks accountability for any damages caused during the bandh periods and calls for measures to prevent what it describes as the growing trend of repeated and unreasonable shutdowns in the state.

As of now, there has been no official response from Raj Bhavan regarding the representation, nor have the Home Department, district administration, police authorities, or APIYO publicly reacted to the allegations contained in the memorandum.

During the course of the inquiry, investigators identified the deceased as Govind Garowal (50), son of Late Bhim Prasad Garowal and a resident of Novojyoti village under Bordumsa Police Station in Assam's Tinsukia district.

To crack the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising DySP Ojing Lego, Inspector J. Aran, Lady Inspector S. Namshoom, Sub-Inspector H. Jugli, and other police personnel was constituted under the close supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Lohit district. After completion of the post-mortem examination, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family members for the last rites.

Police have confirmed that further investigation is in progress to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the incident and to complete the legal proceedings against the accused persons.
