DCM Chowna Mein Calls on Sri Lankan Ministers Along with Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, along with the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel, called on Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath and Deputy Minister of Tourism Ruwan Ranasinghe during an official meeting.
The discussion focused on the strengthening of India-Sri Lanka bilateral relations under the leadership of Narendra Modi, including India’s timely support to Sri Lanka during its recent economic crisis.
The leaders also highlighted the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual ties between the two countries, particularly through Theravada Buddhism. The long-standing exchange of Theravada monks between Namsai and Sri Lanka for teachings and discourses on Abhidhamma was recalled as a strong symbol of shared heritage.

The meeting was attended by Acting High Commissioner at Colombo Satyanjal Pandey, Counsellor (Economic and Commerce) Devika Lal, First Secretary (Political) Navya Singla, and First Secretary (Economic and Commerce) Saurabh Sabhlok from the High Commission of India.

Engineer Yater Padu Doji Becomes Arunachal Pradesh’s First Woman Chief Engineer
In a landmark development for the state’s engineering and administrative landscape, Er. Yater Padu Doji has been promoted to the rank of Chief Engineer in the Power Department, becoming the first woman to hold this prestigious position. A native of Darka village in West Siang district, her elevation represents a significant stride toward greater representation of women in senior technical leadership.
An alumna of Assam Engineering College, Jalukbari, Er. Doji holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering. She began her professional journey in 1993 as an Assistant Engineer and has since built a distinguished career spanning more than three decades.
Rising steadily through the ranks, she served as Executive Engineer in 2003 and was promoted to Superintending Engineer in 2022, earning recognition for her technical expertise, disciplined work ethic, and effective handling of key departmental responsibilities.
Er. Yater Padu Doji, wife of Advocate Kardak Doji, is widely regarded for her professionalism and perseverance.
Her promotion to Chief Engineer is expected to further strengthen the state’s power infrastructure initiatives while inspiring aspiring women professionals to pursue leadership roles in engineering and public service.

Arunachal–Assam Boundary Pillar Erection Begins in Pakke Kessang–Biswanath Sector
In a significant milestone toward resolving a decades-old boundary issue, the boundary pillar erection process formally commenced today between Arunachal Pradesh’s Pakke Kessang district and Assam’s Biswanath district for the first time.
The historic exercise is being carried out with the joint participation of officials from Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, along with representatives of the Central Government from the Survey of India.
The development follows the landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed to amicably resolve the long-pending inter-state border dispute, marking a crucial step toward its on-ground implementation.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday inaugurated the Donyi Polo Cultural Centre–cum–Kargu Gamgi at Modirijo near Itanagar, marking a significant step toward the preservation and promotion of Arunachal Pradesh’s indigenous spiritual heritage.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chief Minister emphasized that faith traditions endure not merely through belief, but through strong institutions, education, and their rightful place in society. He stated that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh remains firmly committed to safeguarding indigenous belief systems by encouraging systematic documentation, cultural transmission, and academic recognition.
The newly inaugurated centre is envisioned as a hub for practice, study, and dissemination of the Donyi Polo tradition. CM Khandu noted that institutions such as the Donyi Polo Cultural Centre–cum–Kargu Gamgi ensure that ancestral traditions are not only preserved in memory, but actively practiced and passed on with pride to future generations.

DNGC Authorities, Student Union Seek Relocation of AAPSU Election Venue

The authorities and students’ union of Dera Natung Government College (DNGC), Itanagar, have appealed to the caretaker President of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), Shri Dozi Tana Tara, and the AAPSU Election Committee not to hold the AAPSU General Conference-cum-Election 2026 on the college campus, citing concerns over disruption of academic activities during the peak academic session.
Meeting and decision
The decision was taken during a meeting held on 6 February in the Principal’s office at DNGC, attended by the college administration, faculty representatives, hostel wardens, members of the College Development Committee, and the Campus Security In-charge.
After deliberations, it was unanimously resolved to request the identification of an alternative venue for the event. Following this decision, the General Secretary of the DNGC Students’ Union and the Principal have separately written to the Deputy Commissioner, Itanagar, seeking consideration of their grievances.
Background of venue approval
Earlier, on 5 February, the Deputy Commissioner of the Capital Complex had granted permission to hold the 27th AAPSU General Conference-cum-Election at Jubilee Hall, DNGC, Itanagar, from 17 to 23 February 2026.
Banderdewa Police Seize Heroin, Cannabis; Assam Man Arrested in NDPS Case
Acting on specific and credible intelligence, a police team led by Shri Rishi Longdo, SDPO Nlg, and Shri Anurag Chopra, IPS(P), along with SI Koj Tada, HC Tade Bomdom, Ct. R. Tsering, and L/Ct. N. S. Chauhai, under the active supervision of Dr. Nyelam Nega, SP, ICR Naharlagun, intercepted a white Mahindra Bolero (Regn. No. AR01U1969) at the Banderdewa Check Gate on 06 February 2026, leading to the arrest of Rupam Kakoti of Assam.
During a lawful search conducted in strict compliance with the NDPS Act, police recovered 51 vials of suspected heroin weighing 66.57 grams (including vials) and suspected cannabis weighing 19.74 grams, concealed beneath the driver’s seat of the vehicle, which was travelling from Assam towards Arunachal Pradesh.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station vide Case No. BDW/PS/C.No.08/26 under Sections 20(b)(i)(A) and 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been arrested.
