Arunachal Trio Wins Three Golds at South Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026

Arunachal Pradesh brought pride to the nation as three of its ju-jitsu athletes, representing India, delivered an exceptional performance at the 3rd South Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026, which concluded in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Sunday. The athletes not only secured three gold medals but also added multiple silver medals to India’s tally, showcasing remarkable skill, discipline, and versatility across categories.

Langkung Duta Bulang, Langkung Adam, and Byabang Bhupai emerged as the standout performers, each clinching a gold medal in their respective events. Bulang secured gold in newaza under the men’s below 62 kg category, while Adam claimed gold in the fighting system under the women’s below 48 kg category. Bhupai added to the golden success by winning the fighting system event in the men’s below 52 kg category.

In addition to their gold medal triumphs, all three athletes demonstrated consistent excellence by also winning silver medals in alternate formats. Bulang earned a silver medal in the fighting system, complementing his gold in newaza. Adam, after winning gold in the fighting system, secured silver in newaza. Similarly, Bhupai, who clinched gold in the fighting system, went on to bag a silver medal in newaza, underlining the trio’s all-round capability in both major formats of the sport.

Further contributing to Arunachal Pradesh’s impressive medal haul, Dongda Taduk secured a bronze medal in newaza in the men’s below 77 kg category, adding another layer of achievement to the state’s performance at the championship.

The achievements of these athletes received widespread appreciation, with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein publicly congratulating Langkung Duta Bulang, Langkung Adam, and Byabang Bhupai for their outstanding success. He lauded their exceptional performance across both fighting system and newaza categories, stating that their accomplishments reflect immense dedication, discipline, and an indomitable fighting spirit. He also extended his congratulations to Dongda Taduk for securing a bronze medal and contributing to the state’s success.

The remarkable performance of these athletes at an international platform not only highlights the growing prominence of Arunachal Pradesh in martial arts but also reinforces India’s rising stature in ju-jitsu across South Asia.
