Three Held with Suspected Heroin at Likabali Gate in Lower Siang

Likabali, April 12:

In a sustained crackdown on drug trafficking, the Lower Siang District Police apprehended three individuals in two separate operations at the Likabali check gate and recovered suspected heroin from their possession.

In the first incident, during a routine checking operation, police intercepted an individual identified as Minken Taket, a resident of Kaying in Siang district. Upon search, suspected heroin was recovered from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered at Likabali Police Station vide Case No. 10/2026 under Section 21(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

In a separate operation on the same day at around 8:00 PM, on-duty personnel intercepted an Aalo-bound private vehicle based on suspicion. Following due legal procedures and in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, a search was conducted, leading to the recovery of approximately 4 grams of suspected heroin. 

Two individuals, identified as Kage Ori (26), a resident of Igo Yami Village, Aalo, and Liba Bagra (25), a resident of Higi Bagra Village, Aalo, were apprehended in connection with the seizure.

A separate case has been registered at Likabali Police Station vide Case No. 11/2026 under Section 21(a) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.

Police officials reiterated their zero-tolerance stance against drug-related offences and urged the public to cooperate by sharing credible information to help curb illegal drug activities in the region.
