The chairman of Arunachal ST Bachao Andolan, Sol Dodum, on Tuesday extended solidarity support to the bandh callers in Ziro and warned the district administration that a 48-hour bandh would be enforced after 14 days, if the demands raised during today’s bandh are not met. He stated that the bandh would be carried out jointly with ST Bachao Andolan members from all districts of the state.

Addressing the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri district, Dodum clarified that he is not against any religion or place of worship, including masjid, mandir, church, or Nyedar Namlo. However, he emphasised that the agitation is against illegally constructed structures that allegedly lack proper legal documentation.

He reiterated that authorities must listen to public grievances, asserting that if the local public does not want an illegal structure, the government has no right to retain it. According to him, any construction without valid documents must be dealt with strictly as per law.

The warning comes amid heightened tension in Ziro, where bandh activities continue over demands for action against alleged illegal constructions.
