Heema Hospital Offers Free Treatment to Niti Vihar Landslide Victims

 


Itanagar, March 17, 2026:

In the wake of the tragic landslide that occurred on March 16 at Niti Vihar in Itanagar, Heema Hospital has stepped in to provide free medical treatment to the injured, underscoring its commitment to community service during emergencies. The hospital also expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and extended solidarity to all those affected.

The incident took place around 4 pm when a large mass of soil suddenly slid down at a construction site, triggering the collapse of a protection wall near an under-construction building. Seven individuals present at the site were buried under the debris as the partially built structure gave way. Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and district police swiftly reached the location and, with the help of an excavator, managed to retrieve all seven persons.

Four individuals were found dead at the scene. The deceased have been identified as Choki Tasar, Ratan Burman, Godak Raja, and Godak Tabin. Three others, Tatung Tajit, Choki Takio, and Hasinoor Ali were rescued from the debris and immediately shifted to Heema Hospital for treatment.

According to hospital authorities, a total of six individuals were brought to the facility, including three who were declared brought dead on arrival. The injured were promptly attended by a team of specialists, including Senior Medicine Specialist Dr. Takhe Takung, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Rajen Bulo, and Surgical Specialist Dr. Doka Jomoh, along with emergency medical officers and nursing staff who ensured swift and coordinated care.

Heema Hospital confirmed that all necessary treatment and medical support are being provided completely free of cost to ease the burden on affected families during this difficult time. Of the injured, one patient has since been discharged at their own request, while two others continue to remain under close medical supervision.

The Chief Managing Director (CMD) personally visited the patients, reviewed their condition, and interacted with their families. He conveyed his concern, wished for their speedy recovery, and assured them of continued care and support throughout their treatment.

Authorities have initiated an assessment into the circumstances that led to the landslide and the collapse of the protection wall, while Heema Hospital reiterated its commitment to stand with the community and provide assistance whenever needed.
