In a landmark moment for Indian football, the State Football Associations of the North East on Tuesday formalised a historic partnership with Japan-based Bestserv Inc. by signing a Deed of Contract to launch the Northeast Football League.

The signing ceremony, held at KiranShree Grand, marks the beginning of a transformative new chapter for football development in the region.

The Northeast Football League aims to establish a professional, structured, and sustainable football ecosystem across the North East. Designed as a long-term development platform, the league will create clear pathways for local talent, enhance institutional and financial sustainability, and offer players consistent competitive opportunities along with professional exposure.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Luis Nakawa, Chairman of Bestserv Inc., and Mr. Josef Kovac, International Development Manager, alongside representatives from all eight State Football Associations of the North East. Their collective presence reflected a rare moment of unity, shared vision, and collaborative commitment toward regional football growth.

This strategic partnership is expected to significantly raise competitive standards, accelerate grassroots development, and open both national and international platforms for players from the North East. With the launch of the Northeast Football League, the region is widely seen as being poised to emerge as a key driving force and a future powerhouse of Indian football.
