In a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, the Geographical Indication (GI) application for Orange of Upper Subansiri has been duly filed with the GI Registry, Chennai, by a representative body of local Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).

The move marks a significant step towards protecting the unique identity of the region’s produce while empowering local farmers. The GI tag is expected to enhance market recognition, ensure better price realisation, and strengthen the rural economy of Upper Subansiri district.

Once granted, the GI status will help showcase Arunachal Pradesh’s distinctive agricultural heritage on both national and global platforms, further promoting sustainable livelihoods for farming communities in the state.
