Khonsa, Tirap District: In a coordinated counter-insurgency operation, personnel of Assam Rifles in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Police apprehended three insurgents linked to the NSCN-K (Nikki Sumi) faction from Wancho Colony in Khonsa.
The operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of suspected cadres in the area. Acting swiftly, the joint team launched a search operation, leading to the successful apprehension of the three individuals without any exchange of fire.
The arrested insurgents have been identified as Wingan Agan (33), Jhonny Riba (21), and Rajapeyu Khechan Khetey (30). According to officials, the trio is suspected to have been involved in insurgent-related activities in the region.
During the operation, security forces recovered two 7.65 mm pistols along with magazines, nine live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, three mobile phones, three SIM cards, and three GPRN-related documents believed to be linked to the outfit’s activities.
Additionally, a small quantity of suspected brown sugar, estimated to be worth around ₹500, was also seized.
Officials stated that the recovery of arms and documents is expected to aid further investigation into insurgent networks operating in Tirap district and adjoining areas.
The apprehended individuals, along with the seized items, have been handed over to Arunachal Pradesh Police in Khonsa for further legal proceedings and detailed investigation.
