Dr. Joram Aniya Appointed Full-Time Member of NITI Aayog

 


Itanagar/New Delhi, May 2:

Dr. Joram Aniya, a noted academician, writer, and folklorist from Arunachal Pradesh, has been appointed as a full-time Member of NITI Aayog, as per an official notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat.

According to the notification published in The Gazette of India (Extraordinary) on May 2, 2026, under F. No. 511/1/1/2024-Cab, the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Dr. Aniya and Dr. R. Balasubramaniam as full-time Members of NITI Aayog. 

The appointments will take effect from the date they assume charge and will continue until further orders, under the same terms and conditions applicable to full-time Members of the institution.

Dr. Aniya is widely recognized for her pioneering contributions to Hindi literature and her efforts in preserving the cultural heritage of the Nyishi community. She is also the first woman from the Nyishi community to obtain a Ph.D. in Hindi, marking a significant academic milestone.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his congratulations, stating that her extensive experience in education, research, and grassroots engagement will bring valuable insights to national policymaking, particularly in promoting indigenous knowledge systems and inclusive development.

Khandu also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing talent from the Northeast and entrusting Dr. Aniya with a key national responsibility.

The appointment is being hailed as a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh and the entire Northeast, with expectations that Dr. Aniya will contribute significantly to shaping national policy in her new role.
