DGP Felicitates Arunachal Police Badminton Medalists

 

Itanagar, May 18:

The Arunachal Pradesh Police Badminton Team delivered a historic and outstanding performance at the 2nd All India Police Badminton Cluster Championship 2025–26 held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, bringing laurels to the State and the department by securing multiple medals against top police teams from across the country.

Competing among more than 45 teams representing various State Police forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and other police organisations, the Arunachal Pradesh Police contingent secured an impressive overall 12th position, the best-ever performance by the State Police at the national-level championship.

Following the remarkable achievement, Police Headquarters (PHQ), Arunachal Pradesh, stated that the Director General of Police (DGP) felicitated the medal-winning police officers and personnel for their outstanding accomplishments and for bringing pride and recognition to the department and the State.

SP Dekio Gumja, APPS, emerged as the star performer of the contingent with an exceptional haul of one Gold and two Bronze medals. He won the Gold Medal in the Gazetted Officers (GOs) Men’s Singles 35+ category, along with a Bronze Medal in the GOs Men’s Singles (Open) category. He also secured another Bronze Medal in the GOs Open Doubles event alongside DySP Paul Jerang.

Other medal winners from the Arunachal Pradesh Police team included:

L/Ct Apali Mega – Silver Medal in NGOs Women’s Singles 35+

ASI(T) Monya Riba – Bronze Medal in NGOs Men’s Singles 50+

L/Ct Nang Propha Namchoom and L/Ct Phetan Wangsuham – Bronze Medal in NGOs Women’s Open Doubles

The Arunachal Pradesh Police team was led by Shri Tumme Amo, IPS, DIGP, whose leadership and encouragement were instrumental in guiding the contingent during the championship.

Police Headquarters congratulated all the medal winners, officials, and team members for their dedication, discipline, and sporting excellence. PHQ further stated that the remarkable achievement reflects the growing sporting spirit and potential within Arunachal Pradesh Police and serves as an inspiration for the youth of the State.
