Minor Rescued from Rajasthan; Accused Held in Itanagar Case

 


Itanagar, April 12:

In a major breakthrough, Capital Police successfully rescued a 15-year-old minor girl from Rajasthan and arrested the accused in connection with WPS Itanagar Case No. 84/25 registered under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to police, the accused, Dilawar Hussain (25), a resident of Banswara, Rajasthan, allegedly contacted the minor through Snapchat. Over time, he developed a relationship with her via social media, reportedly lured her away from home, and later engaged in physical relations.

Following sustained human and technical intelligence efforts, the victim was traced to Banswara and safely rescued. The accused was apprehended on April 9, 2026, from Dungarpur district, Rajasthan, with the assistance of local police.

The rescue and arrest operation was carried out by a team led by Sub-Inspector Bamang Yakum, along with Constables Arun Singh, Ogo Pertin, and Lady Constable Arty Degu, under the supervision of SDPO Itanagar Chera Saban and Inspector Sonam Rina, Officer-in-Charge of WPS Itanagar.

Capital Police has urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about children’s use of smartphones and social media platforms, highlighting the growing risk of online grooming and exploitation of minors.

Reaffirming its commitment, Capital Police stated that ensuring the safety and protection of women and children remains a top priority.
