Know Your Army’ Outreach Held in Pasighat

Pasighat, March 31:

The Indian Army organized a ‘Know Your Army’ outreach programme at Sigar Military Station under the Spearhead Division as part of Project Navbharat, with the objective of strengthening civil-military relations and motivating youth.

Students from the College of Horticulture, Agriculture and Forestry in East Siang district actively participated in the programme, gaining an in-depth understanding of the Army’s ethos, operational framework, and capabilities.

A major highlight was a comprehensive display of modern military equipment and indigenous defence technologies, offering participants insight into the Army’s technological advancements and operational readiness.

The students were also given supervised exposure to small arms firing, providing firsthand experience of the discipline, precision, and responsibility required in military training.

Motivational sessions, including ‘Join Indian Army’ lectures and audio-visual presentations, were conducted to inform attendees about career opportunities in the Armed Forces.

The ‘Know Your Army’ programme is a civilian outreach initiative of the Indian Army aimed at bridging the gap between the military and the public. Often conducted as a mela or exhibition, it seeks to foster patriotism and encourage youth to explore careers in the armed forces by showcasing the Army’s strength, heritage, and technological advancements.

Key features of such programmes typically include weapon and equipment displays featuring advanced systems like tanks, artillery, surveillance radars, and drones, along with live demonstrations such as combat drills, paramotor shows, dog squad performances, and traditional martial arts. Visitors also get opportunities to interact with soldiers, explore recruitment avenues, and participate in cultural activities including military band performances and student competitions.
