Itanagar, April 21:
Three students from Arunachal Pradesh have been selected for the prestigious YUVIKA 2026 (Young Scientist Programme) conducted by the ISRO, marking a significant academic achievement for the state.
The selected students are Miss Geyon Talom from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Geku in Upper Siang district, Miss Lukshmi Sikom from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Kuporijo in Upper Subansiri, and Miss Jennifer Neri from JNV Seppa in East Kameng district.
State Minister Dasanglu Pul, while sharing the news, stated that the achievement reflects the students’ hard work, dedication, and strong interest in science. She noted that their success brings pride to their institutions, families, and the entire state.
The YUVIKA (Yuva Vigyani Karyakram) is a flagship initiative of ISRO aimed at encouraging school students, particularly those in Class 9, to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The 2026 programme is scheduled to be held from May 11 to May 22 and will provide selected students with hands-on exposure to space science, satellite technology, and rocketry.
Participants will attend a two-week residential programme at various ISRO centres across India, where they will interact directly with scientists and experts. The programme is fully funded by ISRO, covering travel, accommodation, and study materials.
Selection for YUVIKA is highly competitive and is based on academic performance, online quiz results, and participation in extracurricular activities such as science fairs and NCC.
The selection of these three students highlights the growing academic potential of Arunachal Pradesh in the field of science and space research.
