Ziro, March 20, 2026:
The scenic valley of Ziro turned into a vibrant hub of intellectual and creative exchange as the 6th edition of the Ziro Literary Festival (ZLF) commenced at St. Claret College on Friday.
The two-day festival is being organised by the Pinewood Organisation of Literature in collaboration with the District Administration of Lower Subansiri, under the theme “Celebrating Creativity for All.” The event brings together writers, poets, filmmakers, journalists, game developers, and creative professionals for dialogue, learning, and collaboration.
The festival was inaugurated by Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister PD Sona in the presence of local MLA Hage Appa, Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme, and Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra. In his address, Sona highlighted the importance of such platforms in nurturing indigenous voices while adapting to the evolving landscape of digital storytelling.

This year’s edition features a diverse lineup of speakers and artists, including detective novelist Zac O’Yeah, podcaster Radhika Viswanathan, and performance artist Samudra Kajal Saikia. Arunachal Pradesh’s literary presence is strongly represented by Dr. Tage Kanno, writer Aditi Banerjee, and noted poets Subi Taba and Moge Basar.
Departing from traditional formats, the 2026 edition introduces “outcome-based” workshops, offering hands-on learning experiences in emerging fields such as Gaming & AI, Graphic Novels, Filmmaking, and Podcast Production. The festival also includes panel discussions, talks, and interactive sessions that are free and open to the public.
Organisers stated that the Ziro Literary Festival continues to bridge the gap between traditional literature and modern creative industries, encouraging reading habits, critical thinking, and cultural conversations, especially among the youth.
The festival will conclude on March 21, with further discussions focusing on media landscapes and tribal customary laws.
