A devastating fire mishap in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday claimed the life of a woman and left two children injured at Lower E Sector in Itanagar, opposite the Civil Secretariat.
The fire reportedly broke out at around 12:20 AM and quickly escalated into a massive blaze, causing panic among residents in the area. The deceased has been identified as Tarh Yayum, wife of Tarh Tame. The two injured children have been identified as Tarh Yalke and Tarh Roshni. Both are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Sources informed that the postmortem of the deceased was conducted at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS). The condition of the injured children is being monitored by medical authorities.
Blaze Intensified Rapidly
According to reports and eyewitness accounts, the fire spread rapidly within minutes of breaking out. Three LPG cylinders reportedly burst during the incident, intensifying the flames and making firefighting efforts more challenging. However, authorities are yet to officially confirm the exact cause of the fire.
The blaze reportedly engulfed the MIBT building, belonging to one Dare Yangum, completely gutting the structure. Nearby properties also sustained damage due to the intensity of the flames.
Emergency Response and Local Support
Fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot and launched immediate efforts to control the blaze. Firefighters worked for several hours to prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent residential buildings in the densely populated locality.
Local residents and youths extended assistance to fire service personnel in dousing the flames and managing the situation. Their cooperation reportedly helped in containing the fire before it could cause further damage.
However, concerns were also raised regarding access to the affected site. A firefighter from the Itanagar Fire Station reportedly stated that certain roadside obstructions and constructions had narrowed the approach route, resulting in some delay in reaching the exact location of the incident. He appealed to the public to avoid unauthorized constructions that may obstruct emergency response vehicles.
Investigation Underway
Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the fire. While LPG cylinder bursts were reported during the incident, officials are examining all possible factors, including electrical faults and other potential triggers.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the importance of fire safety awareness, proper storage of LPG cylinders, and maintaining clear emergency access routes in residential areas.
Further details are awaited as authorities continue their inquiry into the incident.
