Arunachal Pradesh created history by participating in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) 2026 for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the state’s academic and intellectual journey.

Seven students from the state represented Arunachal Pradesh at the prestigious national-level examination held on 18 January 2026 at the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM).

The participants from R.K. Sarada Mission Girls’ School, Khonsa, were Puny Maying, Noni Bangyang, Rocha Rangjang, Ngunngam Wangsu, Mime Rine Pertin, and Merry Tok, while Hemant Chaudhary represented Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Tezu.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu shared the achievement and extended his heartfelt best wishes to the students, stating that their historic participation reflects the rising academic potential of Arunachal Pradesh and will inspire many more young minds to pursue excellence in mathematics.

This first-ever appearance at INMO is expected to strengthen mathematical culture in the state, enhance problem-solving and logical reasoning skills, and encourage students to aim for national and international platforms.

The results of INMO 2026 are expected to be announced during February-March 2026.
