Banderdewa, June 21:

The 12th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm and participation at the Police Training Centre (PTC), Banderdewa, on June 21, 2026. The event was attended by Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, along with senior officers from the Police Headquarters and the Itanagar Capital Region Police.

The programme witnessed active participation from officers, staff, police trainees, and students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), who performed various yoga asanas and breathing exercises in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol.

The celebration was organized in line with this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” emphasizing the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle across all age groups.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jamwal highlighted the significance of yoga and regular physical activity in maintaining both physical and mental health. He noted that yoga serves as an effective tool for helping police personnel manage the demanding nature of their profession by improving resilience, concentration, discipline, and overall well-being. The DGP encouraged all ranks to make yoga an integral part of their daily routine to enhance fitness and work efficiency.

On the occasion, Dr. Jamwal also inaugurated the newly established Four-Lane Firing Simulator at PTC, Banderdewa. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to provide realistic and safe firearms training, enabling personnel to improve marksmanship skills and undergo advanced tactical exercises in simulated operational environments.
