Missing APP Constable Found Dead in Geku

 

Geku, June 8:

Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) Constable Wangren Matey, a resident of Paniduria village in Tirap district, was found dead near a riverside area in Geku, Upper Siang district, after reportedly going missing during a morning walk.

Matey was deployed on SUMP duty at Geku from Namsai district as part of a monthly rotation of police personnel. According to official sources, he left for a morning walk on the morning of June 6 but failed to return, raising concern among his colleagues.

Following his disappearance, a search operation was immediately launched by police personnel from Tirap, Longding, and Namsai districts. The coordinated search efforts continued throughout the day and eventually led to the recovery of his body near a riverside area in Geku.

Police officials stated that the circumstances leading to his death remain unclear. The exact cause of death has not yet been ascertained, and an investigation has been initiated to determine the sequence of events.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom among his colleagues and the police fraternity. Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
