Itanagar, May 2:
Under its ongoing “Operation All Out,” Itanagar Police has intensified an intelligence-driven crackdown on drug peddling, targeting sourcing, transportation, and local distribution of narcotic substances across the Capital Region.
Over the past one and a half months, police have registered six heroin-related cases under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of six accused peddlers and carriers. During these operations, approximately 120 grams of suspected heroin were seized from multiple locations within Itanagar.
Investigations into the cases revealed a recurring pattern indicating that the narcotic substances were being sourced from Assam and transported into Itanagar through inter-state trafficking channels. Through sustained interrogation, technical surveillance, and linkage analysis, police identified a key suspected supplier as Ruful Amin (31), son of Sukur Ali, a resident of Kekokali Nepali in Sonitpur district, Assam.
Acting on this intelligence, Itanagar Police coordinated with Jamuguri Police Station in Sonitpur district to conduct a joint operation. The operation led to the arrest of Ruful Amin from Jamuguri.
During the raid, an intermediate quantity of suspected heroin was recovered from his possession, following which a separate case was registered at Jamuguri Police Station.
Officials confirmed that the case registered in Jamuguri is a direct outcome of intelligence developed by Itanagar Police and highlights effective inter-state coordination. The operation underscores the department’s strategic focus on dismantling drug supply chains at their source, extending beyond local jurisdictions and even outside Arunachal Pradesh.
Itanagar Police reiterated its commitment to combating narcotics through intelligence-based policing, coordinated enforcement, and sustained lawful action aimed at disrupting organized drug networks.
