Itanagar, May 19:
The 9th Council Meeting of the Arunachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council (APSHEC) was convened at the APSCTE Conference Hall in Itanagar to review the progress of higher education reforms and infrastructure development initiatives across Arunachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, an extensive review was conducted on projects implemented under RUSA 1.0, RUSA 2.0, and PM-USHA. It was noted that a majority of the infrastructure and institutional development projects sanctioned under these schemes have either been successfully completed or are nearing completion stages. The Council assessed the status of ongoing works and stressed the importance of ensuring quality execution and timely delivery of all remaining projects.
The meeting also focused on strengthening the higher education ecosystem in the State in line with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). Institutions were directed to update their Institutional Development Plans (IDPs) and prepare comprehensive institution-wise roadmaps to align academic, administrative, and infrastructural growth with the objectives of NEP 2020.
A key issue discussed during the meeting was the need for all higher educational institutions to secure Land Possession Certificates to facilitate smooth implementation of developmental projects and future expansion plans. The Council emphasised that all pending land-related formalities should be expedited in coordination with the concerned departments and authorities.
The Council further underlined the importance of improving academic standards and institutional quality through NAAC accreditation, curriculum restructuring, and the introduction of skill-based and employment-oriented courses. Special emphasis was placed on promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and a stronger research culture within colleges and universities across the State.
Directions were also issued to all institutions and executing agencies to maintain close coordination and ensure time-bound implementation of sanctioned projects and academic reforms. The meeting reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to strengthening higher education infrastructure, enhancing educational quality, and creating better opportunities for students in Arunachal Pradesh.
