Itanagar, April:
In a strong gesture of solidarity and support, Pesi Jilen, MLA of 27-Liromoba ST Assembly Constituency, has extended unwavering assistance to the bereaved family of Late Yapi Potom, who was tragically murdered on April 7 in an alleged act committed by Daksen Riram.
Recognizing the gravity of the loss, particularly as the deceased was the sole breadwinner of the family, Jilen announced an annual financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for the victim’s children. The initiative is aimed at ensuring their long-term security, education, and overall future, especially considering that the deceased leaves behind two minor children.
The MLA assured that this support would continue for as long as he remains in office, underlining his personal commitment to the welfare of the affected family.
Expressing deep concern over the emotional and psychological well-being of the children—who reportedly witnessed the horrific incident—Jilen stressed the urgent need for professional counselling and psychological care. He emphasized that timely intervention is crucial to help the children cope with trauma and rebuild their lives.
Although the case does not fall under the standard eligibility criteria for ex gratia assistance, the MLA stated that he would formally request Chief Minister Pema Khandu to consider extending possible financial aid to the family on humanitarian grounds.
Calling for a united response, Jilen appealed to civil society groups, community organizations, and concerned citizens to come forward and collectively support the children. He highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in safeguarding their future and helping them navigate through this deeply challenging phase.
The announcement has drawn attention to the broader need for community-driven support systems in times of tragedy, particularly for vulnerable families facing sudden and devastating loss.
