Itanagar Teacher Murdered in Late-Night Attack, Accused Arrested Within Hours

 


Itanagar, April 8:

A shocking murder in the ESS Sector of Itanagar has sent waves of concern across the capital after a 42-year-old woman, Smty. Yaapi Potom, was brutally killed late on the night of April 7. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Daksen Riram, within an hour of the incident.

According to police sources, the victim, a Junior Teacher at Government Secondary School, Chimpu, was at her residence when the accused allegedly arrived around 11:30 PM and called her outside. He then attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Superintendent of Police Jummar Basar confirmed that the accused was apprehended swiftly at approximately 12:30 AM, demonstrating a prompt police response.

The deceased is survived by her two minor children, both below the age of 15, along with her parents and a brother. Family sources indicated that she was the sole breadwinner, making her untimely death even more devastating for the household.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with residents condemning the brutal act and demanding strict punishment for the accused.

Police have registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The motive behind the murder remains unclear, and further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the crime.
