4 Arrested, 20 Heroin Vials Seized in Naharlagun Twin Raids


Naharlagun, March 22:

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Naharlagun Police conducted two coordinated operations at Dokum Colony and Kerekjuli, Pichola, leading to the arrest of four alleged drug peddlers and seizure of suspected heroin.

The first raid was carried out at Dokum Colony, where police recovered 10 vials of suspected heroin weighing approximately 12.90 grams from the residence of Tony Gamlin (28), a native of Tirbin in West Siang district.

During sustained interrogation, the accused revealed details about the source of the contraband, prompting police to launch a follow-up operation. Acting swiftly on the input, a trap was laid at Kerekjuli, Pichola to apprehend the supplier.

The second operation was led by Naharlagun Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Krishnendu Dev. The team intercepted three individuals, Dibjyoti Kutum alias Raju (25), Boluram Doley (25), and Mitunjoy Pegu (24), all residents of Dahgharia village in Assam’s Lakhimpur district, while they were allegedly attempting to deliver the contraband. The accused tried to flee on motorcycles but were successfully apprehended.

Police recovered another 10 vials of suspected heroin weighing approximately 12.85 grams from their possession. Two motorcycles used in the transportation of the contraband were also seized.

Altogether, 20 vials of suspected heroin weighing around 25.75 grams were seized in the twin operations.

The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Naharlagun SP Dr. Nyelam Nega. A case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station under Sections 21(b)/27/29 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider drug network.
