FIR Sought Against Roing DFO After Fatal Tiger Attack

February 4, 2026

A complaint has been filed at Roing Police Station seeking registration of an FIR against Divisional Forest Officer Mito Rumi for alleged negligence leading to a fatal tiger attack in Lower Dibang Valley.

The complaint, submitted by local resident Nogoro Melo, relates to the death of Chikseng Manpang, who was killed on February 2, 2026. It alleges that a tiger transported from a zoo was moved along the Hunli–Anini Road, a public route, without adequate safety measures, warnings, or protection for civilians.

The petitioner claims that prior written warnings by the Zilla Parishad and public alerts about roaming tigers were ignored by the Forest Department. The incident has reportedly triggered fear among residents and raised serious concerns over public safety.

The complaint seeks registration of offences under relevant sections of the IPC, including causing death by negligence, and calls for a fair investigation and stronger safety measures to prevent future incidents.
